What is Spinal Flow?

Transcript

The Spinal Flow Technique is a specialized modality created by Dr. Carli Axford. Dr Carli’s background is in chiropractic, Network Spinal Analysis, craniosacral, kinesiology, and many other modalities. Based off her knowledge and experience, she designed Spinal Flow as an effective technique to heal pain, dis-ease and illness caused by stress and tension in the body. It activates your nervous system to unlock your body’s natural self-healing ability.

We all have physical, chemical and emotional stressors that have built up over the course of our lives. Physical stress = accidents & injuries, chemical stress = toxins in our environment, medications, what we consume, emotional stress = not only the big traumas in our lives but also little traumas like receiving really bad news and being too busy to properly process it. So, we push those things to the back of our minds, and they are stored there, stuck in our bodies. This creates blockages in our spine that constrict the nerves that go from our spinal cord connected to every organ, tissue, and cell in our bodies. These blockages inhibit our nervous system from functioning at a healthy level which leads to symptoms of pain, illness and disease.

SF practitioners are trained to show your body how to release these blockages. By gently pressing on access points, your body will signal your brain to use its innate intelligence, your built-in ability to heal, to create a wave of cerebral spinal fluid and life force energy to freely move up and down your spine and release the blockages. The access points are areas of ease on your sacrum, coccyx and cranium. The signal travels through the dura mater, which is a thin membrane, like a casing, that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. It consists of nerve fibers and tissue that communicate with your nervous system to increase the feeling of ease in your body. This shifts your body from a (stress induced) sympathetic state to a parasympathetic state (healing, rest, and digestion) Thus, releasing spinal blockages and reducing the layers of stress from the body. Removing stored stress and regulating the nervous system puts your body in state of well being and restores your body’s ability to heal.

What can I expect from a Spinal Flow session?

Transcript

During a Spinal Flow session, you’ll lie face down on the massage table. I’m going to place bolsters under your pelvis to position your body to create the wave. You’ll feel me use gentle touch on your sacrum, coccyx, and cranium. I’ll find the best access point, which us an area of ease in your body, and hold it while your body naturally creates your spinal flow.

You may feel me run my finger up your spine and push down on your legs and feet to help increase the flow. What you’ll need to do is stay connected to your body. Stay relaxed but don’t fall asleep. Stay out of your mind, find your happy place or if you have trouble clearing your mind just take note of any feelings or sensations. You may feel the need to move, stretch, shake, take a deep breath or you may feel some emotions come up.

If that happens, please don’t hold anything back. Do whatever your body needs to do whether that is cry, sigh, move, shake or even just lay still. The whole point is to release everything that has been stuck in your body. So, we don’t want to fight or resist anything. We want to allow the brain and body to communicate at an optimal level, release the blockages and layers of stress, so your body’s intelligence can do what it’s made to do which is heal you.
